Any students who haven’t submitted the project abstracts are requested to fill the abstract form by 6th Jestha 2068, 2:00 PM.

Fully delighted, with an enthusiasm to learn something new, we KCC-FOSS-Community members headed towards IT Park at Banepa. The day was 3rd July, 2010, Saturday. Everybody excited as that would be out first step entering inside our dreamland,” IT PARK”.

The program was organized by OTRC (Open Technologies Resource Center), Nepal .It was a real nice opportunity to be learning and working with seniors. The program started at about 10 o’clock in the morning in a real coordial environment. The program started with the installation of “virtaal” and “git” for the translation tools. We started translation by using virtaal. The aim was to create an easier interface for Nepali users among the different sets of this operation where the work wasn’t completed we chose some of them, and then started completing them. We were a team of 20 members ( 6 form KCC-FOSS, 1 form FOSS Chtwan, 2 form OTRC, and left form FOSS Nepal). The team work was facilitated with IRC so that we could ask for help and the seniors or anyone who was able could help.

It was a wonderful experience working for the localization of Ubuntu.

A seminar on “Effective Presentations Skills” has organized by KCC-FOSS COMMUNITY with the support of KCC in the presence of vice principal R.C. Aryal, Lecturer Prakash Subedi, Hempal Shrestha(FOSS Nepal), Lecturer Santosh Kumar Bhagat, Lecturer Manoj Kumar Gupta, Lecturer Rabi Shrestha, Sunil Sharma sir, Saroj Adhikari sir and Saroj Pandey sir.

The program was targeted for the senior semester students especially for the Engineering (Computer 7th & 5th; Electronics & Communication 7th & 5th), Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) 7th and Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) 5th. The program was started by president of KCC-FOSS-Community Mr. Sunil Das Shrestha with short description about KCC-FOSS-Community in KCC then the main and important portion of the seminar was started by Mr. Prakash Subedi. His presentation was focused on the skills necessary while giving presentation which was really important part of the main program.

After that the second presentation by Mr. Hempal Shrestha (FOSS Nepal representative) expressed his presentation on FOSS (Free & Open Source Software) and its existence in Nepal. After the end of two presentations the program was ended with commenting on two presentations by Manoj Kumar Gupta, Rabi Shrestha and Santosh Bhagat.
