On 26th November 2024, the Department of Continuing Education (DCE) at Kanitpur City College organized a one-day workshop on Software Engineering for BE Computer VII Semester students, led by Mr. Anju Tamrakar, a seasoned expert in the field. The workshop focused on providing a detailed understanding of software development methodologies, including the software development life cycle (SDLC), Agile and waterfall models, requirements analysis, design, testing, and maintenance strategies. Combining theoretical concepts with real- world applications, the session included interactive discussions and hands-on exercises, giving students practical insights into systematic software development. OnePoint Successfully Hosts .NET Conf 2024 at Kantipur City College

On Manshir 1, 2081 (November 16, 2024), OnePoint, in collaboration with Microsoft, O’Reilly, Pluralsight, Kantipur City College, SolveeTech, and other esteemed partners, organized the much-anticipated .NET Conf 2024 at the Seminar Hall of Kantipur City College, Putalisadak, Kathmandu.

The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout of 130+ enthusiastic participants from the tech community, making it a grand success. The conference served as a platform for knowledge sharing, learning, and networking, bringing together some of the brightest minds in the industry.

Kantipur City College (KCC) recently organized an interactive session for II Semester students from the BCA, BIT, and BE Computer programs, featuring Mr. Kiran Kumar Regmi, Talent Acquisition Manager at Leapfrog Technology, along with his team. The session aimed to provide students with practical insights into the IT industry, preparing them for future career opportunities.

Mr. Regmi and his team began the session by presenting an in-depth overview of Leapfrog Technology, covering the company’s profile, core values, and the exciting projects they have undertaken. This was followed by a discussion on job preparedness, where the team shared valuable tips on how students can best prepare themselves for the competitive job market.

The session also highlighted the type of talent Leapfrog is looking for in potential employees, offering students a clear understanding of the skills and qualities that are in high demand. Kantipur City College Hosts Successful Auditions for Singing Competition 2024

Kantipur City College recently held the audition round for the Singing Competition 2024, organized by BBA 5th Semester students. The event saw participation from 21 students across various programs, showcasing their vocal talents in a range of musical genres. The judges, comprising faculty and industry professionals, were impressed by the high level of talent.

The competition aims to provide a platform for students to express their musical abilities and foster a sense of community. The organizers expressed gratitude to all participants and look forward to the next stages of the competition.

Kalpa Academy Trains 31 Youths as SDG Ambassadors to Foster Sustainable Development

Kalpa Academy, in collaboration with Kantipur City College and ICA Nepal, has successfully trained 31 college youths as Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) Ambassadors. These young ambassadors were equipped with the skills and knowledge to inspire others to adopt a sustainable lifestyle, both in their personal and professional lives.
The training program, which was non-curricular in nature, focused on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), social artistry, global citizenship education (GCED), and the 17 SDGs. The participatory program allowed the youths to discover and develop their unique personality, capacity, talent, and skills, which they can now use to make a positive impact on society, nature, and humanity.
One of the SDG Ambassadors, Milan Shrestha, SDSN President of KCC shared his experience during the training, saying that it had not only made him more skilled but also more committed to serving society, nature, and humanity.
The SDG Ambassador graduation ceremony was held on July 5th, 2024, where Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet appreciated the initiative. He emphasized that it would help the youths contribute to developing a culture of sustainability in development works by preserving nature and creating employment opportunities.
Kalpa Chairman Dr. Pralhad Karki highlighted that the initiative would help develop skills and attitudes among youths to serve society in a sustainable way. KCC Principal Raju Kattel noted that the program had inspired youths to learn practical measures to serve communities in a sustainable way and make the best use of their education.
Kalpa Director Er. Ravi Khanal emphasized that the training provided youths with life-skills through a blend of WASH, GCED, Social Artistry, and SDG. The event was attended by ICA Chairman Dr. Tatwa Prasad Timsina, UN Nepal SDG Advisor Subash Nepal, Prof. R.K. Regmee, National Campaign for Sustainable Development Nepal Executive Director Daya Sagar Shrestha, and Agriculture Development expert Ratna Karki.

Kantipur City College Awards Certificates to Admin Staff for Office Automation Training

Kantipur City College awarded certificates to its staff members who completed a three-day training on the Office Automation System. The training attempted to improve the efficiency of daily activities by employing modern tools, and staff members found it quite beneficial. Principal Raju Kattel and Operations Director Ms. Mina Khatry congratulated  the employees, appreciating their willingness to learn new skills.

Ms. Khatry acknowledged her delight in the staff’s accomplishments and underlined the value of continuous learning. She assured that the college would organize additional training sessions and workshops in the future. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and a group photo, demonstrating the college’s dedication to staff development.

Students of the IT Department Embark on Hike and Clean-Up at Champadevi

Champadevi, June 1, 2024

A group of enthusiastic students from the Department of Information Technology, comprising BCA and BIT 5th semester students, undertook a memorable hike to Champadevi. They enjoyed the natural beauty and challenging trails and contributed significantly to the environment by cleaning up the temple area and the hiking trail up to Hattiban.

The hike, which combined physical activity with environmental stewardship, saw students picking up litter along the way. The major types of rubbish collected included plastic bottles and plastic packaging from junk foods and chocolates. This initiative helped to restore the pristine condition of the trail and the sacred temple area, making it more enjoyable for future visitors.

Despite the hard work involved in the clean-up, the students found the experience deeply rewarding. Many expressed a sense of fulfillment from making a positive impact on the environment while bonding with their peers. The hike was not just about physical exercise, but also about fostering a sense of community and responsibility towards nature.

The event highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness in natural and sacred spaces. It served as a reminder of the impact of human activities on the environment and the need for sustainable practices.
