Civil Engineering Students Gain Valuable Insights from United Cement Factory Visit

On 6th March 2023, Kantipur City College organized a field visit for 1st and 2nd semester Civil Engineering students to United Cement factory. The visit was aimed at providing the students with an opportunity to observe the cement manufacturing process firsthand and bridge the gap between theory and practice.

The students were able to see the entire production process, from raw material processing to final packaging. They also learned about the safety measures taken by the factory to ensure the well-being of the workers and the environment.

The visit was an enriching experience for all the participants, and the students expressed their gratitude to the management team of United Cement for the opportunity. The visit has encouraged the students to learn, explore and broaden their horizons.

The field visit was a great example of how theory and practice can be integrated to provide a holistic learning experience for students. The students were able to see how the concepts they learn in the classroom are implemented in the real world.

KCC would like to extend their sincere thanks to the management team of United Cement for providing the students with this valuable opportunity. The college also commends the students for their active participation and enthusiasm, which made the visit a resounding success.

The field visit to United Cement factory was a great learning opportunity for the Civil Engineering students of KCC. KCC BBA students undertake industrial tour to Industries of Pokhara Industrial Estate, Fishery Research Center and Kamdhenu Cow Firm.

The students of BBA department KCC visited Pokhara, Ghandruk and Bandipur from 17th February to 20th February for industrial visit. This tour was regarding their course Entrepreneurship Development, Business Management, Tourism Management and Production and Operation management.
In this tour, they visited Industries, Fishery Research Center and Kamdhenu Cow Firm in Pokhara and Chyangli respectively .In all of those industries and firms, the students observed the production and operation process of industry and firm. The students got an opportunity to clear their queries regarding production and operation in such industries and firms by the facilitators and promoters themselves.
Apart from industry and cow firm visit, they visited homestays of Ghandruk and Bandipur to observe entrepreneurship in tourism .After the observation of homestays, they learned about the process and importance of hospitality in local homestays in Ghandruk and Bandipur.
After the visit, the students were divided into three groups and presentation was taken about their observation in the visit. All students shared their experience and knowledge about the industries and entrepreneurship through presentation on 4th March 2023.

Student Quality Circle(SQC) of Kantipur City College organized Speech Competition 2023.

On Friday, March 10th 2023, Speech competition held at KCC (Kantipur City College) organized by Student Quality Circle(SQC) was tremendous success, showcasing the impressive public speaking skills of students from various faculties of the college. The competition was attended by quality and enthusiastic audience, students, teachers and faculty members.
The main aim of this competition was to build up the confidence of participants in front of the audience and overcome the fear of public speaking making familiar with stage for the personal and professional development. But the suspense about this competition is participants are provided their topic just an hour before competition started. And surprisingly over 20 students participated in the competition, representing themselves as well as the entire faculty.

The winner of this competition were announced at the end of the event, with firsts place going to Mr. Milan Shrestha, 6th semester’s student of BCA. Milan’s speech, entitled “Space Race”, acknowledged the audience ‘bout the Space Race and explored the facts of it and the misuse that could be done. The judges praised Milan’s confidence, delivery and message calling it “a brilliant speech”.

Likewise, Second place was secured by Mr. Kiran Silwal, a 2nd semester’s student of BE computer for the confounding speech on “Feminism and its Misconception”. In this speech, Mr. Kiran spoke about concept of fake feminism and its effect on our society. The judges applauded the questions he raised that make the entire hall hush down and think for a while.

Similarly, Siddhika karki a 6th semester’s student of BCA grabs the third position, for a beautiful speech on “Wealth inequality-Growing Divide”. In this speech Siddhika articulates the unequal distribution of assets in the group of people. Judges complimented on her fluent speaking way impressive may of communicating.

Other outstand speeches included Rupesh Nepali’s “Hate speech” and Laxman Basnet “Importance of Mental Health” and Biajay Kusari’s “Importance of High Happiness Index in a country”. All three participants received honorable mentions from the Director of the college for their powerful messages and passionate delivery.

The competition had significant impact on both the participants and the audience. Many attendees left the competition feeling inspired and motivated to make a difference in their own lives. Many students spoke about how the competition had helped them overcome their fear of public speaking and had inspire them to pursue further opportunities in public speaking. Meanwhile, the audience and the judges was moved by the students’ messages and impressed by their talent and dedication.

The organizers of the competition were pleased with the turnout and the quality of the speeches expressing their gratitude towards the participants, judges, and faculty members and the volunteers for their support and contribution to the success of the event.

Overall, the KCC speech competition was a huge success. The speeches were inspiring, the audience was engaged, and the students proved that they have what it takes to be effective communicators and leaders. Congratulations to all the participants and winners, and we look forward to seeing what they will accomplish in the future.

Kantipur City College Installs Automatic Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine

In a move to support the needs of its female students and staff members, Kantipur City College has installed an automatic sanitary napkin vending machine on its college premises. The machine, which is located in a female changing room, will allow students and staff members to easily access sanitary napkins whenever they need them.

To use the vending machine, a valid readable card must be tapped on it. This will dispense the appropriate number of sanitary napkins, helping to ensure that they are available only to those who need them. The use of a card-based system can also help reduce the potential for misuse and wastage, making the installation of the vending machine a practical and effective solution.

The installation of the vending machine is a positive step towards promoting better hygiene and well-being on the college.

KCC organized an interactive session on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2023.

Kantipur City College marked the occasion of International Women’s Day 2023 by organizing an interactive session at the KCC hall on the 24th of Falgun, 2079. The session was attended by the principal, vice principal, and HODs of all programs offered by the college, who extended their warm wishes to all the female faculties and staff members present.

The interactive session saw female faculties and staff members share their personal experiences regarding the problems faced by women in the society. The discussion focused on the challenges and hurdles that women have to overcome to succeed in their personal and professional lives.

The event highlighted the importance of empowering women and providing them with equal opportunities in all spheres of life. It also served as a platform for female staff members and faculties to voice their concerns and struggles and to seek support from their colleagues and the college management.

Alumnus Mr. Madhav Subedi leads informative session on Emerging Technologies and Job Areas for IT and Computer Engineering Students

On March 3rd, 2079, the Department of Continuing Education in collaboration with the IT Department organized an interaction session on Emerging Technologies and Job Areas. The session was conducted by Mr. Madhav Subedi, a distinguished alumnus of our institution and the Software Engineering Manager at F1Soft International Pvt. Ltd. The participants for this informative session were from the BCA, BIT, and BE Computer Fourth semester.

Mr. Subedi, who holds a BCA and MCA degree from our institution, has over 18 years of experience in the software field. During the session, he provided an introduction to emerging technologies and job areas, discussed the latest trends, and shared best practices. We are grateful to Mr. Subedi for sharing his insights and knowledge with our students.

BBA students break the taboo around menstruation with inclusive awareness program

The BBA eight semester (2018 Batch) collaborated with the DCE Department to organize a program called “Awareness on Menstruation & its Sustainability” with the aim of including both male and female students in the discussion about menstruation and its related products. The program included informative discussions on menstrual health and the importance of sustainable menstrual products, as well as participative, interactive, and entertaining programs like talent shows, food challenges, and fun games.

The program was well-attended, with the Principal, Vice Principal, Chief Administrative Officer, BBA Program Coordinator, and other faculties . All students who participated in the program were involved in at least one event, making it a highly inclusive and engaging experience for everyone involved.

The Principal presented certificates of appreciation to the organizers and volunteers, expressing gratitude for their efforts in creating such a valuable program. Overall, the program was successful in promoting awareness about menstruation and sustainable menstrual products, and breaking the taboo around the topic.

Kantipur City College organized a farewell program for the 2017 batch at Kathmandu Banquet in New Baneshwor on Saturday (Falgun 13, 2079 / February 25 2023). The program was filled with love, appreciation, and inspiration as the students were given tokens of love, certificates, and a delicious lunch.

The highlight of the program was the motivational speech by Mr. Indra Kumar Shrestha, who shared valuable life lessons and his experiences with the students. His words were inspiring and thought-provoking, giving the students a sense of purpose and direction as they prepare to embark on their professional journeys.

Adding to the excitement of the event, there was few musical performance that entertained the students and guests alike. The beats and melodies added to the festive atmosphere, making the farewell program an unforgettable event.

The students were also given the opportunity to share their experiences of college life. Student of each program of the 2017 batch presented their views on their journey at Kantipur City College. The speeches were full of knowledge, laughter, and emotions, making it a memorable moment for all.

Disaster Awareness and Simulation Exercise: A Life-Saving Experience at KCC

Kantipur City College and ICMS, with support from Youth Mappers, SDSN, Kalpa Academy and SDG-Academy, recently organized a “Disaster Awareness and Simulation Exercise” for 2nd semester students, teachers, and staff. The program aimed to educate participants about emergency safe actions and evacuation drills, as well as to equip them with basic first aid skills and knowledge about different types of fires and fire extinguishing techniques.

The day started with a disaster drill, where participants were able to put their knowledge into practice and understand the importance of quick and calm actions during an emergency situation. The program then continued with sessions on basic first aid, where participants learned how to respond to common injuries and provide initial medical assistance.

The next session was focused on different types of fires and fire extinguishing techniques, where participants learned how to identify different types of fires, use fire extinguishers correctly, and take appropriate actions in case of a fire emergency.

The program received positive feedback from all participants, who felt more confident and prepared to handle disaster situations. “I never thought disaster preparedness could be so much fun and informative at the same time. I feel much more confident and equipped to handle any situation now,” said one of the participants.

This initiative by Kantipur City College and ICMS, supported by Youth Mappers, SDSN, Kalpa Academy and SDG-Academy, highlights the importance of disaster awareness and preparedness in our communities. With regular programs like these, we can ensure that our communities are safe and prepared for any disaster that may occur.

 

KCC has organized a rally program on 43rd International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Kantipur City College has organized a rally program on this morning with the participation of second semester students, faculties and staff on 43rd International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The theme this year is ‘UNITE! Activism to end the violence against women and girls.’

President of ABC Nepal Mrs. Mina Khatry addressed to the students about the importance and necessity of this campaign. The rally passed through College, Newplaza, Kalikasthan, Dillibazar, Putlisadak and ended with a corner assembly at the college.

Every year from 25th November to 10th December, various activities and programs are organized for 16 days to show solidarity and generate public awareness against gender-based violence.

Ending violence against women is possible, but only if we act together, now.

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is commemorated annually on November 25 to denounce the violence that is exerted on women throughout the world and demand policies in all countries for its eradication. The call was initiated by the Latin American feminist movement in 1981, commemorating the date on which the three Mirabal sisters (Patria, Minerva and María Teresa) were murdered in the Dominican Republic in 1960.

Principal, Vice Principal, Chief Administrator, HoDs, Coordinators were also participated in this campaign.
