Anup Shrestha and Aayesha Tamang Crowned KCC Mr. and Ms. Fresher 2080

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Anup Shrestha from Computer Engineering and Ms. Aayesha Tamang from BBA for their outstanding achievement as KCC Mr. and Ms. Fresher 2080. The esteemed title was bestowed upon them during the Welcome Program, organized by Kantipur City College on the 14th of Jestha, 2080, to warmly welcome the new batch of 2022.

In a competitive contest, Mr. Anup Shrestha emerged as the victor, overshadowing his talented rivals. The title of 1st Runner Up was awarded to Mr. Arjun Kumar Shahi(Civil Engineering), while Mr. Bishal Shreemali(Computer Engineering) secured the position of 2nd Runner Up.

On the other hand, Ms. Aayesha Tamang claimed the title, defeating Ms. Shradha Rai(BBA) as the 1st Runner Up and Ms. Evika Shrestha(Civil Engineering) as the 2nd Runner Up.

 

The college management is delighted to announce that both winners have been granted a prestigious full scholarship for their first semester’s tuition fees. Alongside this recognition, they were presented with certificates and bouquets, adding to the grandeur of their accomplishments. The entire KCC community takes immense pride in congratulating Mr. Anup Shrestha and Ms. Aayesha Tamang for their well-deserved success.

KCC Workshop 2023: Three-Day Workshop on Research Proposal Development

Kathmandu, May 26, 2023 – The Kantipur City College (KCC) successfully organized a three-day workshop on research proposal development from May 24th to May 26th, 2023 The workshop aimed to provide participants with valuable insights into the process of writing effective research proposals. Renowned experts from various fields shared their knowledge and experiences to guide the participants in developing high-quality research proposals.

The workshop commenced with a warm welcome and an inauguration ceremony on May 24th. The program chair, Mr. Raju Kattel, commenced the event, and the chief guest, Prof. Dr. Mahendra Singh, former Rector of TU and former Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, delivered a keynote speech. Prof. Dr. Singh, who is also the founding principal of KCC, emphasized the importance of research proposal writing in academic and professional pursuits.

On the first day of the workshop, Dr. Deepak Bikram Thapa Chhetri, accompanied by rapporteur Ms. Merry Singh, conducted two insightful sessions. In the morning session, he covered topics such as the significance of research proposal writing, the distinction between a research proposal and a research paper, idea generation, choosing a research topic, and provided an overview of the workshop. The afternoon session focused on grant proposal writing and included discussions on conducting a literature review, followed by a question and answer session.

Dr. Bidur Dhungel, an expert in grant proposal writing, conducted the sessions on the second day. Mr. Dhan Raj Char served as the rapporteur for the day. Dr. Dhungel’s sessions provided an overview of grant proposal writing and emphasized the importance of conducting a comprehensive literature review. The participants actively engaged in the question and answer session, gaining valuable insights and clarifying their doubts.

The third day of the workshop featured Dr. Shankar Khanal and Dr. Babita Paudel Bhattarai as the speakers. Dr. Khanal’s sessions, with rapporteurs Er. Bikalpa Guragain and Er. Prakash Gautam, focused on the basic structure of a research proposal, including its components such as formulating research questions, providing rationale, and developing hypotheses. Prof. Dr. Shankar Khanal, in his sessions, highlighted the differences between research and grant proposals, discussed the components of a proposal, and emphasized the importance of creating a time scale for the research project. He also touched upon possible outcomes, implications, biographical sketches, and references.

Dr. Babita Paudel Bhattarai, accompanied by rapporteur Ms. Kusum Deo, conducted sessions on the final day. She revised the topics covered in the previous days and addressed participants’ queries regarding homework and practices. Dr. Bhattarai also shed light on career and networking opportunities for obtaining grants, sources of research support, finding suitable funding agencies, and the process of applying to external funders. Additionally, she provided insights into national and international opportunities and how to explore them.

The last session of the workshop was led by Dr. Pralhad Karki, with Er. Bikalpa Guragain serving as the rapporteur. Dr. Karki shared his valuable experiences, discussed the review processes, and highlighted additional requirements of grant proposals. He presented examples of qualitative and quantitative proposals and engaged in a question and answer session, providing participants with constructive feedback.

The workshop concluded successfully, equipping participants with essential knowledge and skills in research proposal development. The attendees expressed their gratitude to KCC for organizing such a beneficial event, and they praised the expertise of the speakers and the interactive nature of the sessions. The workshop served as a platform for networking and fostering collaborations among participants and experts in the field of research.

KCC SDG Students Showcase Social Artistry and Sustainability Experiment at German Embassy, Kathmandu

Students from KCC (Kantipur City College) presented their pioneering experiment on social artistry and sustainability before the Ambassador of Germany, H.E. Dr. Thomas Prinz. The event took place at the German Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

The presentation highlighted the exemplary teamwork and individual efforts demonstrated by the students participating in the SDGs Ambassador Through Youth Facilitative Leadership Program. Under the scheme of social artistry tools, these students embarked on a journey to explore innovative ways to address sustainability challenges and promote the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Thomas Prinz graced the program with his presence and delivered valuable and motivational words, inspiring the students to continue their pursuit of sustainable solutions. His presence lent great significance to the event and left a lasting impact on the young minds.

Mr. Simon Heinkele, the Deputy Head of Development, Cooperation, and Economics at the German Embassy in Kathmandu, was also present and extended his appreciation for the students’ remarkable efforts. His support and involvement further reinforced the importance of initiatives focusing on sustainable development.

The students expressed their deep gratitude to their mentor, Er. Ravi Khanal (Sr. Coordinator, Department of Students Affairs,KCC), whose guidance played a pivotal role in shaping their ideas and providing direction throughout the program. Er. Khanal’s expertise and commitment to nurturing their potential helped them develop a holistic understanding of social artistry and its application in addressing sustainability challenges.

“SDSN Club’s Hand Print on Cloth Program: A Resounding Success in Promoting Sustainability”

The Hand Print on Cloth Program organized by SDSN Club of Kantipur City College was a huge success, thanks to the overwhelming participation of students from our college. The program aimed to raise awareness about sustainability. It was heartening to see so many students come together to support this cause.

The program was held in the college premises, and students from all departments were invited to participate. They were provided with paint and were encouraged to unleash their creativity and paint their handprints on the cloth in unique and colorful ways. The program not only promoted information about sustainability and also fostered a sense of community among the students. It was a fun and engaging way to promote a worthy cause.

Kantipur City College successfully concluded its Sports Week 2080.

Kantipur City College successfully concluded its Sports Week 2080 with a thrilling display of outdoor games, showcasing the skills and talents of the students and faculty members. The week-long event, which began on 8th Baisakh, was filled with exciting indoor and outdoor games, providing a platform for healthy competition and teamwork.
The first two days of the Sports Week saw the participation of girls’ futsal matches, with the final match being played on the second day. The winners were recognized for their outstanding performance and contribution to the event. Additionally, there was a futsal match between the organizing committee and the faculty members of KCC, adding to the excitement of the Sports Week.
On the second day of the Sports Week, the finale of indoor games took place, including table tennis, badminton, and chess. The winners were appreciated with medals and certificates for their exceptional performance and dedication.
For the remaining four days, outdoor games such as football, male and female cricket, male and female basketball, and male and female volleyball were played. The male final matches of football, cricket, volleyball, and basketball were played on the last day of the Sports Week, with the winners being recognized and appreciated for their sportsmanship and teamwork.
On the 6th day, the final matches of female basketball, cricket, and volleyball were played, showcasing the exceptional skills and talent of female participants. The winners were recognized for their efforts and contribution to the Sports Week.
The Sports Week was a great success, with a high level of participation and enthusiasm from all involved. The college management expressed their gratitude towards everyone who participated in the event and contributed to its success. They also congratulated all the winners and appreciated their hard work and dedication.

Department of Continuing Education organized one day workshop on “Digital Transaction Opportunities and Its Challenges” in Collaboration with Nepal Clearing House Limited.

Department of Continuing Education (DCE) in collaboration with Nepal Clearing House Limited recently organized a one-day workshop on “Digital Transaction Opportunities and Its Challenges”. The workshop was designed to educate students and faculty members on the various opportunities and challenges of digital transactions in Nepal. As technology advances rapidly, digital transactions are becoming increasingly popular worldwide. Nepal is no exception to this trend, with a growing number of people using digital payment methods to complete their transactions. However, despite its benefits, digital transactions also pose several challenges,
including security risks, technical difficulties, and limited accessibility.

During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to learn about the different types of digital payment methods available in Nepal, including mobile banking, internet banking, and digital wallets. They also explored the benefits of digital transactions, such as faster and more convenient payment processing, and the ability to access financial services remotely. However, the workshop also highlighted some of the challenges of digital transactions, such as the potential for cybercrime and fraud, technical difficulties, and limited internet connectivity in certain areas. Participants were also taught about the importance of proper security measures, such as strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and regular software updates.

KCC organized a one-day workshop on Amazon Web Services(AWS).

Department of Continuing Education in collaboration with Broadways Infosys organized a one- day workshop on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for students of BIT 8 th semester, BCA 6 th semester, and MCA 3 rd semester on 18 th Chaitra, 2079. The workshop aimed to provide students with a basic understanding of AWS, its services, and their applications.
The workshop covered various topics, including AWS infrastructure, storage, databases, and networking. The students were given access to a demo AWS account, which allowed them to practice and experiment with various AWS services. The workshop was conducted by experienced trainers from Broadways Infosys, who have extensive knowledge of AWS and its applications. The trainers guided the students through various exercises and provided them with valuable insights and tips.
The students found the workshop to be highly informative and useful. They were able to gain a deeper understanding of AWS and its services and their real-world applications. The workshop also helped them to develop their skills and knowledge, which will be valuable in their future
careers.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Kantipur City College and Samarpan Academy

Kathmandu, Nepal – Kantipur City College (KCC) and Samarpan Academy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide counselling services to the students of KCC. The MOU was signed by Principal Raju Kattel from KCC and Kishor Adhikari, Principal of Samarpan Academy.

As per the MOU, KCC will provide the necessary infrastructure and resources required for counselling sessions to be conducted. It will also identify and refer students in need of counselling to Samarpan Academy, while ensuring that the students receiving counselling services are aware of the services offered by Samarpan Academy. Additionally, KCC will provide feedback to Samarpan Academy on the progress of the students who have received counselling services.

On the other hand, Samarpan Academy will provide professional counselling services to the students of KCC. It will ensure that the counselling services provided are of the highest quality and maintain strict confidentiality of all the information shared by the students during the counselling sessions. Furthermore, Samarpan Academy will adhere to the ethical standards set by relevant professional bodies for counselling services.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Raju Kattel said, “We are pleased to collaborate with Samarpan Academy to provide counselling services to our students. We believe that the collaboration will provide a great opportunity for our students to receive professional counselling services and help them overcome any challenges they may face during their academic journey.”
